MLA: John Yap – Richmond Stevenson

God we thank You for Your wisdom knowledge and understanding. As we lift up John Yap to You we pray that You would grant him wisdom where needed in decisions he makes today. We pray he would have a clear mind and heart to discern challenges and situations he may face today. You care deeply for Mr. Yap and we ask that he and his family would be kept safe in their travels and summer activities. Bless him and his family richly we pray in Your Name, Amen.

On May 14th 2013, John Yap was re-elected to a third term as MLA for Richmond-Steveston.

He was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General for Liquor Policy Reform and serves on the Cabinet Committee for a Strong Economy, as well as the committee for Legislative Review.

John Yap served as Minister of Advanced Education, Innovation and Technology and Minister Responsible for Multiculturalism from September 5, 2012 to March 2013.

Previously, John served as the Minister of State for Climate Action and as the chair of the Government Caucus. He was also a member of the Treasury Board and the Cabinet Committee on Legislative Review. John also served on several Select Standing Committees including Public Accounts, Crown Corporations, as well as Finance and Government Services. He has also served as a member of the Special Committee on Sustainable Aquaculture.

John attended the University of British Columbia and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Genetics and obtained his Masters of Business Administration.
