MLA: George Hayman – Vancouver-Fairview

Monday, September 14, 2015

Father, we bring before You George Heyman, MLA for Vancouver-Fairview and Opposition Spokesperson for Green Economy, Technology, and Translink. We pray you would harness and direct his passions for issues in directions of your choosing. We pray you would let the light of Your wisdom shine through into every decision and course of action that he faces. We know nothing is impossible for you, Lord, so we ask you for breakthrough in difficult situations and the ability to find common ground in the contentious issues MLA Heyman is facing. We thank you that you know his heart and we pray you would answer his deepest questions. Bless him with good health and answered prayers. We ask this in Jesus’ name.

George Heyman was elected as the MLA for Vancouver-Fairview in May 2013. Born and raised in Vancouver, George has lived and worked in Vancouver and throughout northwest B.C.

George serves as Opposition Spokesperson for Green Economy, Technology, and Translink.

George was the executive director of Sierra Club BC, one of the province’s oldest environmental advocacy and education organizations. He also served three terms as president of the BC Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU). In both organizations, George was a respected negotiator and a strong fiscal manager, running consistent budget surpluses.

George has been a faculty member of Simon Fraser University’s Dialogue and Negotiation program, teaching courses in multi-party negotiations and collaborative decision-making. He has guest lectured at a number of universities in B.C. and abroad, and served on advisory committees for post-graduate and undergraduate degree programs at three B.C. universities.

George is a passionate advocate in Victoria for issues facing his constituents, including education, health care, the arts, child care, workers’ rights, transit and affordable housing.
